Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano designated the YMCA of the Suncoast swimming lesson program as February’s Charity of the Month.
Water safety is a high priority of the YMCA of the Suncoast and it is a mission shared by the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office.
The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office designated the YMCA of the Suncoast as February’s Charity of the Month, raising money to help provide swimming and water safety lessons to children whose families may not otherwise be able to afford them.
“Help save lives!” says Julio Vega, District Vice President for the YMCA of the Suncoast. “The YMCA of the Suncoast serves more than 7,000 children annually in our mission to eliminate drownings by providing life-saving swim skills in all counties, including Pasco, served by our Y.”
“The YMCA is the premier agency to provide swim lessons to young people in our community,” comments Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “With drowning the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 1-4, it is vitally important that they receive water safety lessons as soon as they are able. Unfortunately, Florida ranks as one of the highest states in the nation for infant and toddler drowning. We must do all we can to bring this number down.”
Cash donations can be made at any of the five tax collector locations in Pasco County through the end of the month. Donations may also be mailed to: Tax Collector Mike Fasano, P.O. Box 276, Dade City, FL 33526. Please note on your check’s memo line “YMCA.”
Thank you to the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office for supporting the Y’s efforts to provide this needed service to as many children as possible. For more information on swim lessons, visit your local YMCA.
