Kids and Teens Exercise for Fun
Youth sports at the Y are great for young athletes to learn teamwork and fundamental skills of a sport while building self-confidence. Programs like sports and supplemental youth training can encourage and challenge youth and teens to exercise for overall wellness!
Types of Youth Workouts
Those who enjoy individual events, or want to prioritize skills in a small group setting may benefit from a youth training program based on popular sports and favorite ways to exercise.
Select YMCA of the Suncoast locations offer training programs for youth and teens, including youth triathlon training programs and sports training programs. The Homeschool PE and Enrichment program is another way for students to make friends, exercise and participate in interactive activities in a safe environment.
Youth Participation in Group Exercise Classes
The Y makes workouts easily accessible for all, including youth members! Typically, YMCA of the Suncoast locations allow youth members to participate in select fitness classes starting at age 10, as long as the member is with a guardian and can keep up with the group. Classes like yoga and Zumba® (dance) are popular with kids!
Based on the program and age group, youth participants may use cardio, strength training equipment and other amenities, in addition to indoor and outdoor games and activities.
