Description:
This course is designed to train and certify individuals in the knowledge and skills necessary to help prevent and recognize aquatic risks to assist and alert a lifeguard in the emergency response to an accident or injury. Participants will also be certified in American Safety and Health Institute’s (ASHI) courses: Basic Life Support (BLS), Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen upon successful completion of this course. This course DOES NOT provide participants with a lifeguard certification and training.
Prerequisites:
14 years of age or older; be able to pass the physical competency requirements: Phase 1- tread water for 2 minutes and swim 100 yards of front crawl; Phase 2- sprint to an object then perform an arm over arm surface dive in 4 to 6 feet of water, pick up object off bottom of pool and tread water for 1 minute using legs only, replace object to bottom of pool, sprint remaining length, get out of pool, conduct 100 compressions on mannequin, and then listen to directions from instructor. Required completion of Lifeguard and ASHI e-learning prior to class date (print out certificates for credit). REQUIRED - PRE-REQUISITE SWIM TEST ON FRI. MARCH 16

Equipment Requirements:
Swim Suit, towel, extra change of clothes, sunscreen, lunch/snacks, Lifeguard Book, hip pack with mask, gloves and whistle (Provided)
