Graduates from the Clearwater Y in Motion Survivorship & Wellness Program.

The YMCA Survivorship & Wellness Program powered by Moffitt is more than just a program. It's a community that understands and supports individuals affected by cancer, empowering them to reclaim their health and well-being. Post-treatment, this program profoundly impacts its members, fostering a renewed sense of strength and purpose. We offer this program to individuals in Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties.

The Clearwater Y in Motion recently celebrated the graduation of its April cohort and is underway with a new group of participants in May. The initiative is a free, 12-week class tailored for adult cancer survivors. Throughout the 12 weeks, participants will work to build muscle mass and strength, increase flexibility and endurance and improve functional ability. While the participants benefit from the physical activity, many survivors say the comradery they find with others in the class helps with their recovery just as much as the exercise.

Studies show that physical activity helps people affected by cancer. It can reduce fatigue, boost self-esteem and improve strength and physical endurance in individuals following cancer treatment. This program is designed to help participants not just survive but also thrive.

Scott Goyer, President and CEO of the YMCA of the Suncoast, shares, "The YMCA is committed to putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. This cancer survivorship program does just that. We are thankful to be able to serve individuals going from active cancer treatment to longer-term survivorship with the help of Moffitt's dedicated team and evidence-based interventions."
