The Greater Palm Harbor YMCA is hosting the 11th Annual Kids' Fishing Challenge presented by Florida Hospital North Pinellas on Saturday, June 4. The catch and release fishing event will give up to 250 children ages 12 and under the opportunity to fish at Wall Springs Park in Palm Harbor.
With the help of sponsors, kid anglers will receive a new rod and reel, bait, t-shirt, raffle ticket and lunch with their $15 entry. In addition, non-anglers will receive lunch, t-shirt, and a raffle ticket for $10. Both entry categories will have plenty of arts and crafts, activities and a bounce house for fun.
Online registration is open through Friday, June 3.
Onsite registration may be available the day of the event. Check-in for the mini-anglers starts at 8 a.m. the day of the event and fishing hours are every hour starting at 8:30 a.m. Up to 60 anglers can fish until the last cast starts at 12:15 p.m.
Trophies will be presented after each fishing group for First Fish, Largest Fish and Smallest Fish. Raffle Drawings and Grand Prizes for Most Fish Caught, Largest Overall and Smallest Overall will be awarded too!
All proceeds of the Kids' Fishing Challenge will benefit the YMCA Community Support Campaign. In 2016, the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA will award more than $140,000 in scholarship opportunities to kids, seniors, teens and families.
