More than 300 people attended Hernando County YMCA’s Looney Tunes Christmas Family Fun Event in Brooksville.
The Hernando County YMCA put a unique, and fun, spin on Christmas celebrations this year! The Y partnered with more than a dozen local community organizations to hold a "YMCA Looney Tunes Christmas Family Fun Event" at Kennedy Park in Brooksville.
The team took the concept of an angel tree to the next level. In addition to providing presents to 120 kids through the angel tree program, this was an opportunity for their entire family to attend a free, family fun event.
In total, about 350 people joined to make holiday arts and crafts, play games and activities, get their faces painted and visit partner tables represented by groups like Head Start, the Rotary Club and the Hernando County Anti-Drug Coalition.
In addition to the fun activities, this event was a chance for community members to come together to learn about resources available to residents.
"The Looney Tunes Family Fun Event gave South Brooksville citizens an opportunity for partners to give support for the children, allowed the citizens to build insights and capacity to understand the communities’ current needs and prepare for their futures, especially the children," said Tresa Watson, Executive Director of the Hernando Community Coalition, an organization that serves as a collective voice for Hernando County residents working towards the health and wellness of community members, with a focus on youth substance abuse.
This event was made possible by generous sponsors including: Mid-Florida Community Services, Mr. Kimbrough, Target, Chick-Fil-A, Wawa. Mrs. Sue Stoops, Blake Bell, Erin Daly, Kiki’s Kitchen, Elisa Babor, Tidal Brewing Company, Killingsworth Insurance, Lowman Law Firm, Council Ingram and the Hernando Community Coalition.
