As a token of its appreciation and respect for faithfully and with honor, integrity and great distinction, serving as a dedicated Board member of the YMCA of the Suncoast for nearly 25 years, our Board formally voted to recognize January 28, 2021 as “Bernie McCabe Day” at the YMCA of the Suncoast.
G. Scott Goyer, YMCA of the Suncoast President and CEO, says Bernie had a heart for young people.
“His passion for youth was inspirational. As Chair of our Youth Development Committee, he was a great supporter of youth programs and the YMCA's mission,” said Scott Goyer. “He was especially instrumental in his efforts advocating for youth in the Greater Ridgecrest and High Point area communities. His contributions to Board meetings were always thoughtful and upbeat.”
The Board passed the proclamation on January 28th, 2021.
Bernie, served with the Sixth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office for 48 years, spending 28 years as the State Attorney of Pinellas and Pasco Counties. He passed away earlier this month at the age of 73.
“He will sorely missed,” Scott says.
