Fox 13’s Charley Belcher headed over to the Greater Palm Harbor Y to see how the YMCA is keeping members healthy, active and engaged and safe during a pandemic. He’s seen here with an outdoor boot camp class underway.
The YMCA of the Suncoast continues to provide a safe, comfortable place to work out and first and foremost “we are still having fun here at the Y and we’re doing everything we can to continue to serve our members and our community,” says Delonyx Cortez, Executive Director of the Greater Palm Harbor Y.
The YMCA has adapted to help families - from kids to seniors - stay active and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We offer things like outdoor boot camps for members who aren’t quite ready to go back inside yet but if you do walk into our building and are ready to come back in, we follow CDC guidelines, Health Department guidelines, social distancing in all of our classes, in our Wellness Center and all of our offerings,” says Delonyx. “Whether it's adults, kids, seniors, you name it, we have it. We're trying to be the safest facility across Tampa Bay. We try to serve everyone we can. We have a lot of members who are cancer survivors that partake in a lot of these classes and even members who aren’t ready to come back to the Y, we have a virtual platform.”
This month, the YMCA of the Suncoast was featured on Good Day Tampa Bay’s Charley’s World on Fox 13 News. Click here to see one of the segments from the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA. Charley went live all morning highlighting our fitness classes, youth sports programs, and childcare offered for our families. Check out all that’s included in your membership.
