The Y’s swim lesson program is designed to help participants reach their goals and provide a clear swim lane to being safe and having fun in the water!
Swimming at the Y helps people thrive—in and out of the water. Swim lessons provide kids, teens and adults with the opportunity to set goals and achieve success, learn water safety and enjoy swimming as a form of exercise. Through swimming lessons, swim teams, lap swimming and more, the YMCA of the Suncoast provides a safe environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Whether you are interested in getting comfortable in the water for the first time, want to improve your form or swim better, we can develop a program to suit your needs.
Water exercise is low impact and ideal for all fitness levels. Classes provide motivation, aerobic choreography, improved cardiovascular endurance and conditioning.
YMCA Lifeguard Training is a comprehensive course that focuses on water rescue, safety and prepares lifeguards to anticipate and prevent dangers. Upon successful completion, participants are qualified to work at an aquatics facility as a certified lifeguard. Participants must attend all classes and successfully pass exams to receive certification.
We introduce younger swimmers to the team environment and teach all four competitive strokes while more experienced swimmers develop their technique and endurance level.
Cool off at one of our many pools, splash pads and water slide parks where you can kick, jump, swim and splash the days away. Staying active in and out of the water is just one of the many ways the Y strengthens us all. You can even host a birthday party at the YMCA!
Do you know your child's true ability in the water? As a leader in drowning prevention, the YMCAs of Tampa Bay teach FREE safety around water lessons.
Throughout all stages, we teach students how to be safer and more comfortable in the water. check out stages 1-3, and consult our swim staff to find the right swim lesson for your child.
Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being, and foster a lifetime of physical activity.
Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention and the importance of supervision.
Masters Swim is a blend of fitness and competitive swimming for adults 18 and older. The structured workouts use techniques of interval training with a focus on fun, fitness and friendship.
All children 13 and younger must participate in a swimming skills test and will be assigned a green, yellow or red band. These bands assist our lifeguards in keeping swimmers safe.
