John Geigle YMCA member with Santa!
Spending time at the YMCA during the holidays is an excellent way to stay active, connect with others and give back to the community. As a nonprofit organization, we are dedicated to helping our members and neighbors create joyful memories while supporting each other throughout the holiday season. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or embrace the season’s joy, our staff were happy to celebrate with you.
This holiday season, many of our branches hosted Angel Trees. Throughout the month of December, YMCA members could pick an angel from the tree and purchase a Christmas present for them. The angels are children whose parents often need additional assistance purchasing Christmas gifts. This year, our James P. Gills YMCA provided roughly 350 gifts to children in need!
Our Greater Palm Harbor Family YMCA hosted a Ho Ho Holiday event, where children made hot cocoa, played holiday card games and wrote letters to Santa! On Saturday, December 14th, the branch also hosted its annual Reindeer Run, which benefits its Mainstream Adults Sharing Hope (MASH) program. Our members at the John Geigle YMCA had a very special visit from the big man himself—Santa attended their holiday brunch, which the branch’s fantastic Teen Leaders hosted!
As the holiday season comes to a close, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to all our members, volunteers and staff who helped make these events so special. Your generosity and enthusiasm reflect the spirit of the YMCA! We are happy to bring our community together and look forward to continuing our mission to support and inspire our members in the year ahead.
