The 8th Annual YMCA of the Suncoast Youth Triathlon was held on October 20, 2024, at the Citrus Memorial Health Foundation YMCA. The event saw 116 participants featuring swimming, biking and running. Parents/guardians appreciated having the opportunity to come together following back-to-back hurricanes in the region.
"I think it is great that this race went on as scheduled. It helped those affected to be able to return to normalcy following the storms,” shared Anthony Seguin, a parent of two racers.
Garrett Adkins, Senior Director of Branch Operations/Association Aquatics Advisor at the Citrus Y emphasized the importance of the event, which is USA Triathlon-sanctioned.
“Before the Y, many events and sports like this were not available in Citrus County. The Y acts as a community hub and events like the Citrus YMCA Triathlon give children and teens an athletic outlet that can set them on a trajectory towards a health-focused lifestyle for years to come.”
“Personally, as a lifetime resident of Citrus County, events like this were missing from my childhood. Helping organize an event, which gives the youth of our area a fun-filled and exciting experience makes me proud of the role the YMCA plays in our local community,” Garrett added.
Congratulations to all the winners and participants!
