Training Outside the Box

Join Bill & Marie for this intense class for the advanced exerciser! Training includes plyometric and sports conditioning exercises utilizing body weight, medicine balls, tires and other sports drill equipment. This non traditional class will offer the advanced exerciser the challenge they have been looking for. Classes must have 4 participants in order to run with 10 participants max.

Age: 18 and up

Friday Night Co-ed Volleyball

SilverSneakers® Fitness Program

The SilverSneakers® Fitness Program is the nation's leading exercise program designed exclusively for older adults. The basic SilverSneakers® Fitness Program membership includes the use of all the James P. Gills Branch has to offer. Special SilverSneakers® Fitness Program exercise classes are available. The classes have certified instructors who guide participants through exercises that focus on strength, flexibility, mobility, range of motion, balance, agility, and coordination to improve activities for daily living.

A great class for seniors! Strength and range of motion benefits are the focus of this creative exercise program. Participants may sit or stand. Classes include SilverSneakers I, SilverSneakers II and YogaStretch.

Nutritional Counseling

Jennifer Shoemaker is a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist. She has been in the field since 1992 and has worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, public health, long-term care and fitness centers.

Areas covered: Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Weight management, Wellness and Women’s Health

Fee: $44 per hour

Massage Therapy

The James P. Gills YMCA massage program is designed to offer members a quality environment in which they may experience the benefits of balancing mind, body and spirit.  We offer Relaxation to Deep Tissue massages. Our massage therapists are dedicated to the well-being of each YMCA member.

Women on Weights - W.O.W.

Not sure free weights are for you? During this 4-week course, a certified Personal Fitness Coach will guide you through a program to get you acquainted with free weight training. The course will provide insights on strength training using free weights, proper safety and lifting techniques. We guarantee you'll walk away with new and effective ideas. Minimum four participants needed to run the class. Check the class schedule for upcoming dates and times available.

Schedule: Two times a week, for four weeks

Parents Night Out

Sports Extravaganza! Join us in the gym where we have room to move. Boys vs. Girls-relays, volleyball and basketball shoot off! Wear your favorite team jersey or fan wear. We will serve hot dogs and eat a healthy snack for the movie “The Incredibles”.

Personal Training

Personal training provides specialized one-on-one training by certified instructors to help you meet your fitness needs.  Whether you are just beginning an exercise program or need help fine-tuning your current one, personal trainers can help you meet your goals.  To register, please contact  the member services  desk.

Low Initiatives Course

The Low Initiatives Course is best utilized by groups of eight or more people.  Your group will learn to work together to achieve a common goal.  There are a variety of different exercises that can be combined in different ways to meet your organization's needs.  The Low Initiatives Course is designed to sharpen communication skills, develop leadership, improve goal setting and problem solving skills and help team members develop a mutual trust for one another.

The High Ropes Challenge Course

Towering up to 50 feet above the ground, the High Ropes Course encourages participants ages 13 and up to step beyond their normal comfort level and learn the importance of trust and team work.  The course is made up of 18 utility poles, a 50-foot climbing wall and a framework of ropes and cables connected 30 feet in the air to create a wide variety of course elements for the participants to navigate.  The James P. Gills Family Branch's course is one of the largest in the state and includes such ropes course favorite elements as the Zip Line and Cargo Net.

Ropes Course Open Climb

Come experience the thrill and challenge of our one-of-a-kind obstacle course 50 feet in the air!
Age: Youth under the age of 18 must be with a parent/guardian while climbing
Fee: $15 Advanced registration required, non-members welcome
Schedule: third Friday of every month, 6:30 - 9:30 pm

Adult Pick-Up Basketball

Join other YMCA Members for a game of pick-up basketball. Adults of all skill level welcome.

Fee: Facility Members Only FREE
Schedule: Mondays, 7-9:00 pm

Team Sponsors

Be a banner sponsor for $300!  Your organization's name will be printed on a banner and will be hung on our sports field for the entire season. For $150, you can sponsor a youth sports team. Your organization’s name will be printed on the back of the team’s jerseys and you receive a picture/plaque of the team. A sponsor is needed for every team.
