Tinikling
Tinikling is very similar to jump rope, but instead of a spinning rope, two bamboo poles are used. The poles are held by two people, one pole in each hand. They hit the poles on the floor, then raise them, then hit the poles together. The person(s) in the middle hop over and outside the poles before they come together. When mastered, it is considered a form of dance. For more details, contact Katie Hill at the YMCA or at khill@suncoastymca.org

Hip Hop Dance Lessons (Volunteer Opportunity)
Do you have a lot of energy and enjoy dancing? We are looking for adult volunteers to teach Hip-Hop dance steps and routines to children in our after school programs. This would be a great opportunity to help youth meet new friends. We are looking for interested adult volunteers to instruct boys and girls ages 8-17. The goal is to teach them creative movement, body coordination exercises that develop motor skills. We soul like the youth to learn Hip-Hop moves, warm up movements, and floor work will to help them progress into combinations necessary for dance routines. We would like the participants to do a yearly performance to show off the Dance Teams talents. This will be fun and a great learning experience for all ages. Students must attend 10 sessions on a regular basis and be registered in order to participate in the yearly show.
