YMCA Lifeguard Certification Course
Prerequisites for YMCA Lifeguard Class: 16 years of age or older, long shallow dive then, swim 500 yards continuously, 100 yards of each of the following:
- Front crawl w/head up
- Breaststroke w/head up
- Sidestroke
- Sidestroke pull with one arm
- Elementary backstroke-kick only
- Tread water 2 minutes legs only
- Head first surface dive to 9 feet and swim under water for 15 feet
- Feet first surface dive to 9 feet and swim under water for 15 feet
CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Oxygen Administration are included in the class.
Fee: $165 YMCA members; $225 non-members

Saturday Night Live
Want to get out the house and have some fun? Come join us at the YMCA for Saturday Night Live! Every month students can get involved in a variety of activities. Where can you find games, food and fun all in one place? And parents—you know your kids will be safe.
Age: 8-11(Tweens) and 12-17(Teens)
Schedule: Saturdays, 6-9:00 pm
Fee: $5/members; $7/non-members*

Guitar Lessons
Beginning and advanced guitar lessons for youth and adults are offered Saturday mornings. New four week sessions begin the first Saturday of every month. Class times are as follows:

Advanced (Youth & Adult) – 8:00 am
Beginner Youth (ages 8-12) 9:00 am
Beginner Adult (ages 13 & up) - 10:00 am
Intermediate (Youth & Adult) - 11:00 am
Fee: $32/month Facility Members; $50/month Program Members
Schedule: Saturday of every month
Leaders Club
The YMCA Leaders Club is a group of teens, with adult supervision, organized for the purpose of rendering volunteer service at the local YMCA. Leaders Club develops teaching and leadership qualities, improves performance levels, strengthens traditional values and social skills, as well as the principles and philosophies of YMCA physical education needed to achieve the essential unity of spirit, mind, and body. Club activities include monthly meetings and trainings, rallies in the Spring and Fall, a monthly fun event, and Blue Ridge Leaders School in June. All Leaders are expected to earn 100 volunteer hours a year by volunteering for the YMCA. Teens assume responsibility for planning their own activities.

Fee : $25 membership dues covers a Leaders Club t-shirt and nametag;
$4 monthly dues
Schedule : Meetings are every Monday, 6-7:30 pm in the Teen Center. Trainings and social events are also scheduled throughout the month.
Jr. Leaders Club
The YMCA Jr. Leaders Club is a group of pre-teens, with adult supervision, organized for the purpose of rendering volunteer service at the local YMCA. Jr. Leaders Club develops teaching and leadership qualities, improves performance levels, strengthens traditional values and social skills, as well as the principles and philosophies of YMCA physical education needed to achieve the essential unity of spirit, mind, and body. Club activities include monthly meetings and trainings, social activities, and an end-of-the-year event. All Jr. Leaders are expected to earn 40 volunteer hours a year by volunteering for the YMCA. Pre-teens assume responsibility for planning their own activities.

Fee : $25 membership dues covers a Jr. Leaders Club t-shirt and nametag;
$4 monthly dues
Schedule : Meetings are every Monday, 5:30-6:30 pm in the Teen Center. Trainings and social events are also scheduled throughout the month
Community Center
Located at the Hernando County Family YMCA, the Community Center is complete! This new center will give teens a safe place with safe and fun activities. Hernando YMCA Community Center has activities like a computer lab, flat screen TVs with Wii and DDR and much more. The Hernando YMCA Teen Center is the central location of all YMCA teen programming.
