Your Help is Needed

All of the sports programs at the YMCA are volunteer driven. We utilize caring adults as coaches, referees and team parents. When signing your child up to participate, please consider helping where you can. Check out these great Volunteer Opportunities.

2010 Youth Sports Calendar

Fall Soccer

This is a non-competitive program where youth can become comfortable with the great game of soccer. We focus on fun, character development, teamwork, sportsmanship, participation and basic skills development.

Game Schedule:                                                                          

Ages 3-7 play Friday nights between 6:30pm-8:30pm.  Ages 8-15 play Saturday between 9:00am-1:00pm.  Game times will be announced at first practice.

Practice Time:                                                                  

Practices are once a week starting at 6:30pm or 7:30pm and last 1 hour. 

3 year olds practice Friday.

Ages 4-7 will be contacted by your coach after our coach’s meeting with your day and time of practice. 

Ages 8-15 will be contacted by your coach after evaluations with your day and time of practice.

Mandatory Evaluations Ages 8-15:                                          

Players are evaluated to help the process of forming teams.

Baton: Florida Twisters Club

Join the State Champs, Florida Twisters for a fun filled year of performances, parades, and competition under the direction of Cindy Ramsey. You will learn basic twirling skills that will enable you to become a future majorette. Fit4AllKids

Ages 8-12 (other ages may be considered on a case-by-case basis) This is an 8-week program, sponsored by All Children's Hospital in cooperation with the Clearwater Branch YMCA, encouraging children to do their personal best and reach their own goals for weight loss, weight management and physical activity.

As a part of this program, the Clearwater Branch will provide memberships to Fit 4 All Kids participants and their families free of charge during the program. Each week, YMCA staff will lead participants through a wide range of fun, low-impact fitness activities while supporting them on their way to a healthier lifestyle.

In addition, members of the All Children's staff will guide discussions on topics such as body image, motivation, restaurant etiquette, stress management and other psychosocial behaviors associated with proper nutrition.

Kids Zone

The YMCA of the Suncoast - Clearwater Branch offers a caring, friendly environment for your children while you workout. Members may sign their child into the Kids Zone at no cost. The Kids Zone is full of fun activities: scheduled story/craft time, outside play, special projects and crafts, scheduled parents’ night out each month. Games, toys and books are always available for the children during their visit to the Kids Zone.

Tae Kwon Do-Beginner/Intermediate

YOUTH Swim Team

There are three levels for Youth Swim Team – Silver (ages 4-8), Gold (ages 9-12) and Diamond (ages 13-18). All swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool to be part of this program. Advanced level swimmers should know all of the competitive swim strokes. Children must be YMCA members to compete in meets and USA swimming registration is required for participation in some meets. Most Swim Meets are on Saturday. Competing in swim meets is not required. This is a great place to belong to a team, improve skills, meet new friends, prepare for high school swimming, or just to have fun! Come meet our coach!  Coach Mike will be available to answer any specific questions you may have.  Come to a practice, meet the coach, try a practice, see if this is the program for you!

For Kids Ages 3 to 8 Open Enrollment - Register Today! All classes require a minimum of eight participants. The maximum discount available for Open Doors participants is 50%. 45 Minute Ballet, Tap & Tumbling

Consists of Ballet and Tap with tumbling time each week.  Children will learn basic ballet skills and beginner tap steps.  Supplies needed: ballet shoes, tap shoes and dance leotard; tights and skirt optional.  Note: All classes are for kids only!  Children must be able to attend class on their own.  Parents are invited to watch class through the classroom window.

Age: 3-5
Schedule: Thursdays, 5:30-6:15 pm
Fee/monthly: $35 Facility Members; $50 Program Members

1 Hour Ballet, Tap & Tumbling

Ballet instruction includes classical ballet technique, ballet barre and center work. Tap instruction includes traditional tap steps, walks, turns, combinations and terminology. Each class concludes with basic tumbling. Supplies needed: Ballet shoes, Tap shoes, and dance leotard; tights and skirt optional. Note: MUST have previous dance experience to enroll for this class; 6 year olds who have not participated in structured dance classes prior to this program should register for Beginner II.
